Q1.

What is the process for becoming a volunteer at Visalia Rescue Mission?

To begin, you must sign-up HERE. You can sign-in with your Google, Windows Live ID, or Facebook account. You can select any available opportunity listed.

Q2.

Can groups volunteer?

Absolutely. Opportunities are available daily in our Community Kitchen for small groups. We can also help you arrange a service opportunity for a larger group. Click HERE to contact a member of our team to get started.

Q3.

Can I use my volunteer time to complete a school requirement or school-related community service?

Yes. If you are completing hours for school-related community service, please remember to bring all necessary papers you will need signed when you come in to volunteer. At the end of your volunteer shift, have the staff member who supervised your shift verify and sign your requirement form.

Q4.

What is the age limit for volunteers?

Volunteers must be 15 years of age to volunteer. ALL volunteers under the age of 18 MUST have adult supervision. Our Community Kitchen has large food service equipment in operation that is not ideal for young children. We are concerned about safety for everyone!

  • Youth ages 14 through 15 must be accompanied by one adult over the age of 21 for every five teens.

  • Volunteer groups with Youth ages 16 through 17 must be accompanied by one adult over the age of 21 for every 10 teens.

  • Every youth volunteer must be signed up online by a parent or guardian.

What if my group wants to volunteer but they are under 13?

The most helpful way to volunteer is to coordinate a drive of some kind. You can host a donation drive for food, clothing, toys, hygiene items, and more. Click HERE to get that going.
